Bell Installation at Love, Adorned!

Join us Wednesday, June 8th, for the opening of

SuzuInvite2

an installation of hanging bells and garlands by Michele Quan.

Reception from 5-8 p.m. with refreshments.

'Suzu' is a Japanese word that refers to a round bell similar to a jingle bell. A 'Suzu' is rung by shrine visitors to announce their presence to the resident deity. Ringing them alerts the gods, divinized heroes & spirits; also to acquire positive power and repel evil.

Quan has created these bells as homage to the present through sound.

"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee." - John Donne
